Increase steel exports to 6 million tons

According to Mehr News Agency, quoting Imidro, Abdolmajid Sharifi stated that in recent years, Iran’s steel production has been higher than in the Middle East, adding: “From 2011 to 2015, Iran’s exports have been increasing and in the vision program (at least) 15” Millions of tons of steel exports are projected.

He continued: “For the first time this year, steel exports have surpassed imports, which we hope will create more added value due to the policies of the resistance economy, curbing the sale of raw materials and the conversion of iron ore to steel.”

Sharifi said that after Borjam, more communication has been established with the countries of the world and foreign companies, adding that in the current situation, steel production capacity is 28.8 million tons, cast iron is 3.7 million tons, sponge iron is 24 million tons, and pellets are 32 million. Tons and concentrates are 44 million.

He also referred to the development programs of this industry and added: the steel production capacity will reach 55 million tons by 2025, and considering that we now have a capacity of 28.8 million tons, the steel capacity should be increased by another 26 million tons, while In the same way, the capacity of pellets and concentrates should be increased.

Sharifi called the location important for the implementation of new steel projects and said: “From now on, steel development projects should be implemented in two points, including the Persian Gulf Special Mineral Zone and Chabahar Free Zone, because these areas have access to water.” .

He said: “Domestic and foreign companies, if they want to invest in Iran’s steel industry, can negotiate with Imidro or the National Iranian Steel Company.”
