According to the Mehr News Agency, citing the Vice President for Science and Technology, an electric arc furnace (EAF) is a furnace in which materials are heated using an electric arc.

In the arc furnaces of the steel industry, scrap steels and pellets are melted and converted into high quality steel. The main task of most electric arc furnaces is to convert solids into molds as soon as possible so that they can be further refined in the next step (secondary steelmaking). In some furnaces, the temperature sometimes reaches 1650. C.

Hosseinzadeh, CEO of Danesh Bonyan Company, referring to the company’s success in acquiring technical knowledge for the production of EBT blocks of molten outlet ducts in electric arc furnaces, said: “This sensitive part, which was first made using nanotechnology in the country, was successful.” It has been tested in Iran Alloy Steel Company and is in the stage of entering the semi-industrial phase.

He pointed out: “Due to the extremely high temperature of EBT furnaces and its very high corrosion and abrasion, as well as the special sensitivity of this part, which sometimes passes up to 100 tons of melt, and in case of any problems, there is a possibility of serious dangers.” There is a special importance of domestic production of these products.

He continued: “This part is currently imported from abroad and the internal graphite samples are facing the problem of oxidation and severe quality loss due to the high heat and oxygen of the process. Making nano-blocks in this company can be a great help to The country’s steel industry.

Hosseinzadeh said about the employment rate of this project: “Currently, due to the limited space of the factory, we have only been able to attract eight workers, but if we provide financial resources and provide a suitable space, we can employ more than 150 people.”

He added: “Steel industries expect their contract companies to offer a basket of products that we are unable to meet due to the company’s severe limitations in terms of space and financial facilities.”

Researchers at an Iranian knowledge-based company have successfully begun the production phase of the experimental sample of the EBT blocks of the molten channel of the arc furnaces of the steel industry, the semi-industrial production phase of this strategic product.
